Yes – MediBang Paint Pro remains the gentlest intro to digital art. Massive built-in brush library, free cloud storage for projects, tutorials inside the app. Cross-platform (Windows, Mac, iPad, Android).
It is owned by a Japanese manga publisher (Medibang Inc) so the comic-creation features are top-tier. Free with optional ads.
What about Inkscape for vector work?
Inkscape 1.4 is the open-source Illustrator. Full SVG support, node editing, boolean operations, gradient mesh. Logo design, icon design, technical illustrations – all work great. Free, no upsells.
Honest gap: it is slower than Illustrator on huge files (1000+ objects).
